Are you planning to text friends or family with a US number using your LimeCall number? You’ll need to register your LimeCall number for this.

To complete the registration process, you’ll require:

  • A US or Canadian address
  • A working mobile number with a +1 country code

Important to note: Only one LimeCall number per account can be registered for US texting. If multiple family members need this feature, please contact our support team for assistance.

Why is US Carrier Registration Necessary?

Major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, have implemented stricter regulations to combat the surge in fraudulent calls and texts. As a VOIP phone provider, LimeCall must now register to be approved as a US carrier.

This requirement applies to all businesses, regardless of whether they have an EIN or similar business ID.

US Carrier Registration: Enhancing Your Texting Experience

New Guidelines for Virtual Phone Users

Recent changes implemented by major US carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, aim to improve the overall texting experience for everyone. These new guidelines directly impact virtual phone users like yourself.

Boost Text Deliverability and Avoid Filtering

By registering your LimeCall number as a US carrier, you can significantly enhance your text message deliverability rates. Additionally, this crucial step helps prevent carriers from filtering your outbound messages.

It’s important to note that carriers plan to filter all unregistered messaging traffic.

Consequently, if you haven’t completed the registration process by August 31, 2024, you won’t be able to send texts to US phone numbers using LimeCall.

Understanding the Registration Fees

The Registration Process

After you submit your registration form, LimeCall shares your information with The Campaign Registry for review. This third-party organization is responsible for assessing your application.

Fee Structure

The registration process involves two primary fees:

  • One-time registration fee: This $25 (Non Refundable) fee covers the initial review of your application by The Campaign Registry. The process includes a preliminary screening followed by a detailed manual check.
  • Monthly messaging fee: A $2 monthly fee is charged to maintain your good standing with major US carriers.

Please note that there’s a $19 resubmission fee if your application is rejected. This fee goes directly to our carrier partner.

Where Does the Money Go?

It’s understandable if these fees seem unexpected. However, it’s essential to remember that they directly contribute to combating phone fraud. By registering, you’re helping to create a more secure and trustworthy telecommunication environment.

All fees collected go directly to The Campaign Registry and other third-party entities involved in the registration and verification process. LimeCall does not retain any portion of these fees.

Who Can Access the US Carrier Registration Process?

To ensure a smooth registration process, it’s essential to understand who can access the necessary forms and settings.

Account Requirements

  • Paid Account: Only customers with active paid LimeCall accounts can initiate the US carrier registration. If you’re currently on a trial, upgrading to a paid plan is required to proceed.
  • Workspace Role: You must be an owner or administrator of your LimeCall workspace to access and submit the registration form..

Completing Your US Carrier Registration: A Step-by-Step Guide

Ready to register your LimeCall number for texting with US phone numbers? Let’s walk through the process together!

Eligibility and Account Access

First, ensure you meet the eligibility criteria:

  • Paid Account: You’ll need an active paid LimeCall account. If you’re enjoying a free trial, upgrading to a paid plan is necessary.
  • Workspace Role: Only owners or administrators within your LimeCall workspace can access and submit the registration form..

Accessing and Completing the Form

  1. Open & complete the US Carrier Registration | LimeCall Form
  2. Complete the payment of the Registration Fee.
  3. Submit the form.

Personal Use Form:

  • Personal Information: Provide your full name, email address, and a valid ten-digit mobile number with a +1 country code.
  • Residential Address: Enter your US or Canadian home address. If you live outside these regions and want to text from LimeCall, you’ll need a business tax identification number.
  • Messaging Details: Third-party reviewers request information about your typical text usage. Here’s an example for a college student:

“I’m a college student who uses texting to keep in touch with friends and family.”

  • Messaging Examples: Provide at least two sample texts you typically send. Remember, certain topics are prohibited on the LimeCall platform. Review their guide on banned content before finalizing this section.
  • Your LimeCall Number: Before submitting the form, enter the specific LimeCall number from your workspace you wish to enable for US texting. Other numbers in your workspace will still be able to text non-US contacts but won’t be eligible for US texting until reassigned.

Important Note: Reassigning texting capabilities can temporarily disable texting on both numbers involved for up to 7 days. Unfortunately, this timeframe is set by the carriers and cannot be modified by LimeCall. If you require assistance reassigning a number, feel free to contact our Support Team.

  1. SMS Verification: Upon receiving initial approval from the carriers (typically taking a few minutes), you’ll receive a one-time verification text message sent to the mobile number you provided during registration. Remember to respond within 24 hours to verify your number.
  2. Non-Verification Scenarios: If you don’t verify within 30 days, contact LimeCall’s Customer Support team at support@liimephone.io. Our team will be happy to assist you further.

By following these steps and providing accurate information, your US carrier registration should be completed smoothly! Remember, a successful registration means improved text deliverability and a more secure texting experience for everyone.

What Happens After Submission?

Once you’ve submitted your US carrier registration form, LimeCall forwards it to the relevant carriers for approval. Due to the high volume of registration requests, the review process managed by The Campaign Registry and other third-party entities can be lengthy, potentially taking several weeks. We strongly recommend submitting your registration as soon as possible.

The Registration Process

Becoming fully registered to text US numbers involves two key stages:

  • Brand Registration: This is an initial automated review of the information you provided in your application.
  • Campaign Registration: In this phase, a third-party entity conducts a manual review of your messaging details.

Possible statuses for each stage include:

  • Pending: Your application is awaiting approval.
  • Approved: Your registration has been successful.
  • Rejected: Your registration was unsuccessful.

Benefits of Successful Registration

Upon approval of your personal use registration, your LimeCall workspace and associated phone number will be officially registered. This positive development enhances the deliverability of your text messages and reduces the likelihood of them being flagged as spam.

Handling Registration Issues

If your application is rejected, carefully review the submitted information and resubmit the form. For additional support, click the “Help” button at the bottom of the page.

Remember, patience is key during the registration process. By submitting your application promptly and following the guidelines, you’re taking important steps to ensure a smooth texting experience.

Enhancing Your Phone Number’s Reputation: Free Caller Registry

What is the Free Caller Registry?

To further protect your phone number’s reputation and ensure optimal call delivery, we strongly recommend registering with the Free Caller Registry. This free service allows you to submit your phone number information to major US wireless carriers, including T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, and AT&T.

By registering, you’re providing valuable data that helps these carriers identify legitimate calls and reduce spam or fraud.

Registering Additional Phone Numbers

If you decide to add more phone numbers to your LimeCall workspace, it’s essential to register each new number with the Free Caller Registry. However, there’s no need to complete the separate US Carrier registration form for these additional numbers.

By taking these steps, you’re actively contributing to a better calling experience for yourself and your contacts.
